MIDDLESBORO — Williamsburg had hopes of keeping its perfect record in tact on Tuesday, but Middlesboro had other things in mind.
Anthony Hibbard’s squad went on the road, and dropped a 55-38 decision against their counterparts after scoring only 12 points in the first half.
Jerimah Breck led Middlesboro with 18 points while Cayden Grigsby added eight points, and Trey King finished with seven points.
“Tonight was definitely not our night,” Hibbard said. “We have to give a lot of credit to Coach John Wheat and Middlesboro for their performance. This was our first true road game and we were challenged from the tip.
“Our guys battled defensively and continue to show improvement on that side of the ball,” he added. “However, our offense really struggled tonight. We missed some shots that we normally make. Again, we are going to clip up the film, hit the weight room, and get back on the court tomorrow. When things go good, we go to work. When things go bad, we go to work.”
Andrew Smith led Williamsburg with 20 points while Henry Bowling added 10 points.
