RED-HOT COLONELS: Sawyers scores four goals, Parra adds three during Whitley County’s 9-0 win

Whitley County’s Matthew Sawyers continues to produce along with teammate Johnny Parra as the Colonels won their third game in a row with a 9-0 decision over Harlan County on Monday.

Sawyers scored four goals in the win while Parra added three goals. Cameron Jones and Jacob Senters each scored one goal apiece allowing the Colonels to improve to 3-1. They have now outscored their opponents, 34-1, the past three games.

“The first half was a battle,” Whitley County coach Michael Branham said. “Harlan County is always a physical team that steps quickly to every ball. With a 3-0 lead at halftime we settled in and finally played our game. I’m very pleased with the way my team played the final 40 minutes.”

The Colonels will be back in action Thursday in the finals of the Class 2A, Section 2 title game.
