Corbin advances to WYMT Mountain Classic finals with 74-47 win over Jackson County 

HINDMAN — The Corbin Lady Redhounds sought revenge as they faced off against Jackson County in the semifinals of the WYMT Classic on Saturday morning.

Having been eliminated by the Lady Generals in last year’s 13th Region Tournament semifinals, Corbin was determined to make amends. 

The Lady Redhounds quickly took control of the game and secured a convincing 74-47 victory over Jackson County.

The win advances Corbin to Saturday night’s WYMT Mountain Classic. They’ll face-off against either North Laurel or Knox Central.

Isaac Wilson’s squad was led in scoring by Kylie Clem, who finished with 22 points while Kallie Housley added 21 points, and Bailey Stewart finished with 15 points.

Annslee Nichols led Jackson County with 14 points while hitting four 3-pointers. Kylee Shannon added 13 points while Abby Gilbert finished with 12 points.

Corbin built an 18-11 lead after the first quarter as Clem scored eight points during the quarter. Stewart caught the hot hand and scored nine points in the second quarter, pushing the Lady Redhounds lead to 32-23 at halftime.

Housley added nine points for Corbin in the third quarter to give the Lady Redhounds a 53-37 advantage. Clem added 12 points in the final eight minutes to help Corbin secure the 27-point victory.
