Lady Wildcats fall at home, dropping 63-40 decision to Thomas Walker, Va.

CORBIN — Lynn Camp’s losing skid is at six games after dropping a 63-40 decision to Thomas Walker, Va.

The Lady Wildcats (1-6) have had struggles getting off to a good start during their six-game losing skid, but scoring early wasn’t the problem on Saturday.

Turnovers turned out to be a problem for coach Joshua Mobley’s squad instead.

Thomas Walker, Va. took advantage of the Lady Wildcats’ miscues, and ran away with a 23-point victory.

Lynn Camp fell behind 24-9 in the first quarter, and never recovered.

“Today we came out at the start of the game strong and we were able to hit a few shots,” Mobley said. “However, we started to struggle taking care of the ball and giving them easy opportunities to score at the rim with turnovers.

“We also didn’t control the boards and the paint as much as I would have liked to on both ends of the floor today,” he added. “We have to be much more efficient by taking care of the ball, better decision making on the floor in transition and in half court execution, and by finishing our shots more efficiently.”

Sayde Mobley led the Lady Wildcats with 12 points while Julie Moore added 11 points, and Madison Weymers finished with 10 points.

“We have to continue to work hard to improve each and every day at practice so that we can see this translate to the floor during our contests,” Mobley said. “We will strive to get better at practice these upcoming days and prepare for Harlan County on Tuesday.”
