Four players score in double-figures as Whitley County cruises past Garrard County

WILLIAMSBURG — Eric Swords’ Whitley County Colonels keeps on rolling, improving to 3-1 on Saturday with a 60-39 win over Garrard County.

The Colonels set the tempo early, and controlled the game throughout.

Four players scored in double figures in the win with Evan Ellis and Lucas Queener both scoring 12 points apiece while Jackson Petrey and Danny Ellis both added 10 points apiece.

“Proud of our guys,” Swords said. “We came out and set the tempo defensively in the first quarter and never looked back. Defensively we are much improved from last year, we just still have to find our flow offensively a little better.”

Even with the win, Swords pointed out there are things his team needs to improve on as the season progresses.

“It’s early in the season,” he said. “We have some things we need to work on but I love the potential of our team. Looking forward to another region battle on Tuesday night.”
