WYMT Mountain Classic Champions: Noah paces Black Bears with 38 points during 81-63 win

HINDMAN — Harlan County captured its first WYMT Mountain Classic championship on Saturday by cruising past Perry Central, 81-63.

The Black Bears faced a 41-38 deficit at halftime before outscoring the Commodores, 43-22, in the second half.

South Carolina signee Trent Noah put on another show, torching the nets for 38 points while going 13-of-14 at the free throw line.

He took over in the second half, scoring 21 points. Reggie Cottrell added 16 points, and two 3-pointers while Maddox Huff hit three 3-pointers and finished with 13 points.

The Black Bears (5-0) trailed 23-22 at the end of the first quarter despite Noah scoring nine points while Huff added five points. 

Perry Central held a 41-38 advantage at halftime before Noah scored 13 of his team’s 23 points, as Harlan County outscored the Commodores, 23-6, to reclaim a 61-47 lead with eight minutes remaining.

Noah added eight points while Cottrell finished with seven points to lead the way for the Black Bears in the fourth quarter.
