RICHMOND — Sean Pigman’s Whitley County Lady Colonels ran into a buzz saw on Tuesday, suffering a 64-27 setback to Madison Southern.
Whitley County (3-2) could never get on track offensively, and the Lady Eagles made them pay.
Madison Southern knocked down five of their 16 3-pointers during the first quarter, racing out to a 20-10 lead and never looking back.
“We didn’t play good and didn’t execute our game plan,” Pigman said. “They played really well and hit shots.”
The Lady Eagles extended their 20-10 first quarter lead to 41-17 at halftime before outscoring the Lady Colonels, 23-14, in the second half.
Maddy Hopkins led Whitley County with eight points while Jonna Rice added seven points. Autumn Sawyers finished with six points.
