WILLIAMSBURG — Williamsburg’s record stands at 1-5 after dropping a 66-31 decision to Wayne County during Saturday’s Kenny Davis Classic.
The Lady Yellow Jackets got off to a slow start, and couldn’t recover, falling behind 19-7 in the first quarter.
Williamsburg trailed, 36-18, at halftime, and 58-28, entering the fourth quarter.
“It’s been a hard week with three great opponents,” Williamsburg coach Melissa Douglas said. “The girls are accepting the challenge and making improvements. I cannot stress enough of how nice it is to have everyone present. They each have their own role and can make a huge difference in our game. Allie (Wilson) is following through well in the paint. We are adjusting and continuing to build our team chemistry.”
Wayne County’s Adeline Heatherly, and Jordan Collum each scored 14 apiece for the Lady Cardinals while Camille Debord added 10 points.
Allow Wilson continues her impressive play for Williamsburg, scoring a game-high 16 points, earning her Player of the Game honors. Lylah Mattingly added five points, and Hannah Creekmore scored four points.
