CORBIN — Isaac Wilson’s Coebin Lady Redhounds didn’t show any signs of a letdown during their convincing 76-59 win over West Jessamine.
The Lady Redhounds, playing their second game in less than 24 hours, looked in midseason form while improving to a perfect 6-0 on the season.
Kallie Housley led the way for Corbin with 26 points, and two 3-pointers while hitting 6-of-8 shot attempts from the free-throw line. Kylie Clemens added 18 points with two 3-pointers while going 6-of-8 from the free-throw line.
Darcie Andersen continued her impressive play, chipping in 13 points while Bailey Stewart finished with nine points and Raegan Walker tallied eight points.
“It was a good team win for us today,” Wilson said. “West Jessamine has some really nice pieces and did some things today that really put us in some bad spots. Foul trouble in the first half I thought really kept us kind of stagnant and we had to play a few different lineups, which will be beneficial down the road.”
Corbin wasted little time jumping out on the Lady Colts, building a 21-13 lead in the first quarter behind nine points from Anderson, and six points from Clem.
The Lady Redhounds outscored West Jessamine, 15-12, in the second quarter and held a double digit lead (36-25) at halftime before the Lady Colts caught fire in the third quarter and cut their deficit to 49-43 entering the fourth quarter.
A West Jessamine comeback wasn’t in the books, though.
Corbin outscored the Lady Colts, 27-16, in the final eight minutes to get the win. Housley scored 11 points in the fourth quarter while Walker added six points.
“Hats off to West Jessamine as they were able to take us out of our game for quite a bit of today’s basketball game,” Wilson said. “Defensively, I feel that we were not as locked in as we have been in some previous games and that is something that we will need to address moving forward .
“Now we must set our sights on the queen of the Commonwealth tournament this coming week,” he added. “We have a very good opponent in Meade County, who will challenge us on both end of the floor and we look forward to the challenge.”
