Knightstown, In. — Eric Swords’ Whitley County Colonels left on a memorable road trip that they’ll never forget.
The Colonels (7-1) journeyed to Indiana to compete at the renowned Hoosiers Gym, an iconic venue.
For those unfamiliar, this is where the majority of the Hickory Huskers’ games took place in the beloved 1986 film “Hoosiers.”
On Monday, Whitley County faced off against Casey County and emerged victorious with a resounding 88-66 win.
Lucas Queener led the charge with an impressive 27 points, supported by Evan Ellis with 25 points, and Danny Ellis contributing 13 points.
“Love the way we are sharing the basketball,” Swords said. “We came out and gapped them early in the first quarter. Love the way we are sharing the basketball.
“As a basketball junkie, it is great to have our kids play in a historic basketball place. All of our kids got minutes during the game, so that’s something they can always remember. We will now go to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame, and get ready for a tough one tomorrow vs Nicholas County.”
