LONDON — Trey Worley turned in a 22-point scoring effort while hitting 7-of-7 free throw attempts during the game’s final eight minutes to lead Corbin to a convincing 64-44 win over 13th Region opponent Harlan.
The Redhounds managed to improve to 3-0 as Eli Pietrowski joined Worley in double figures with 13 points. Zander Curry added nine points while Carter Stewart finished with eight points in the 20-point win.
“Happy with the effort level we showed this evening,” Corbin coach Tony Pietrowski said. “A lot of positives. Also plenty of areas we can improve upon.Harlan is a dangerous team, and they have one of the toughest covers in our region.
“Excited for Trey Worley,” he added. “Scored it and rebounded it well. Thought Eli did a good job on the boards and finishing through contact. Zander is a special player. Guarded well and was solid scoring it and rebounding it. Excited to get back on the floor tomorrow.”
Corbin scored the game’s first eight points while building a 16-5 lead in the first quarter before the Green Dragons used an 7-0 run to close out the period to cut their deficit to 16-12.
Harlan continued to rally in the second quarter, and took a 28-23 lead before the Redhounds closed out the period with an 11-0 run to take a 34-28 advantage into the locker room at halftime.
Corbin’s lead grew to 46-37 entering the fourth quarter before the Redhounds outscored Harlan 18-7 during the final eight minutes to secure the win.
The Green Dragons’ Kyler McClendon led all scorers with 29 points.
