After being tested early and often during its first three matches of the season, the Pineville Lady Mountain Lion volleyball team continued to show its improvement by rolling past regional for Middlesboro, 3-0.
The win improved the Lady Mountain Lions to 1-3 while the Lady Yellow Jackets fell to 0-3.
Pineville coach Samantha North wanted her team to get off to a good start, and they did just that, cruising to a 25–10 first set win. The Lady Mountain Lions then picked up 25-13, and 25-14 victories in the second, and third sets, respectively.
“We wanted to start our season against tough competition outside of the 13th Region,” North said. “We played well but weren’t able to come away with a win. We know the region is wide open this year, and we want to be in the conversation of contenders. It feels good to get a win in our first region matchup.
“Our girls did everything right tonight, their serves were excellent, they worked the net consistently, and dominated every aspect of the game,” she added. “I am super proud of their hard work, and I can’t wait to see how far they go this year.”
Pineville will be back in action Thursday at home against Clay County.
