Ten-point second half leads to Williamsburg’s 56-32 loss to Trimble County

GATLINBURG — A slow start played a big role in Williamsburg’s 56-32 loss to Trimble County during Thursday’s Smoky Mountain Christmas Classic.

The Lady Yellow Jackets (1-6) fell behind 22-11 in the second quarter, and trailed 34-22 at halftime before being limited to only five field goals, and 10 points in the second half.

“We came out today with some great team chemistry,” Williamsburg coach Melissa Douglas said. “It seems we cannot get a break to have everyone healthy, however it’s just new obstacles in the road.  The ladies are adjusting and creating new options to grow as a team.

“Abby Moses and Presley Spicer both had ten and that pleases me,” she added. “I love to see a team that has several players contributing offensively. Hannah Creekmore, Lylah Mattingly, and Abbi Chinn played some great defense.”

Abby Moses and Presley Spicer scored 10 points apiece for Williamsburg while Hannah Creekmore added six points.
