Redhounds bounce back, hand Rockcastle County, 82-62 loss

LONDON — Corbin bounced back from its first loss of the season by turning in an impressive 82-62 win over Rockcastle County on Friday.

The Redhounds (4-1) started off on the right foot behind three 3-pointers by Ryder Akins in the first quarter, building an 11-point lead (23-12), they never relinquished.

Corbin’s lead grew to 43-28 at halftime, and 71-41 entering the fourth quarter.

“Proud of the way we bounced back today,” Coebin coach Tony Pietrowski said. “Thought our team top to bottom played extremely well. Balance across the board was impressive tonight. We had numerous guys with high total in points, rebounds and assist.

“Our seniors continue to be the rock of our team,” he added. “Zander had a great tournament and showed why he’s one of the better players in our region. Eli had one of his better games. Did a great job tonight. His versatility is vital to our team. Bench play was good this evening as well. We will need that as we progress throughout the season. Welcome a few days of rest and then back at it as we prepare for the Cumberland Falls Invitational.”

Eli Pietrowski continued his impressive play by leading the team with 18 points while Akins added 15 points, and Zander Curry followed with 14 points. Conner Middleton also scored in double figures with 12 points while Carter Stewart added nine points, and Connor Blackburn finished with eight points.
