ORLANDO, FLA. — Corbin Senior Kallie Housley co to yes her impressive play by scoring 23 points during the Lady Redhounds’ 65-54 win over Sequoyah, Ga. In first round action of Wednesday’s KSA Events Holiday Classic.
Corbin (9-2) trailed by one point at halftime, but used a 22-7 run in the third quarter to take control of the game. Sequoya, Ga. Attempted to rally in the final eight minutes, outscoring the Lady Redhounds 19-16, but the damage had already been done.
“It’s a good win for our program today,” Corbin coach Isaac Wilson said. “You never know when you take such a long trip away from home how your team will respond. We have had a rough few weeks with the level of competition and amount of travel that we have had and I feel it our team showed him maturity, level, and round one of this tournament.
“Sequoyah High School has a very nice girls basketball program and they will win many games this season,” he added. “We now must set our sights on Glen Rose High School out of Texas. They are nice program as well. We have to just continue to improve each game and take each moment as learning opportunities, moving forward as we prepare for the postseason.”
Housley finished going 8-for-8 at the free-throw line while also hitting a 3-pointer. Kylie Clemens added 14 points while Darcie Anderson finished with nine points. Bailey Stewart chipped in seven points, and Raegan Walker finished with six points.
