WILLAMSBURG — Tyler Wagner’s Lynn Camp Wildcats dropped their fifth game in a row, falling to Garrard County 58-44 in Wednesday’s Borderline Classic.
The Wildcats (2-7) had struggles rebounding the ball, and was also outhustled according to Wagner.
“We got out-rebounded and outhustled today and that can never happen with us,” he said. “We allowed them to control the glass and that determined the game. They were physical with us and we let it get to us tonight.”
Struggles offensively continued to hinder Lynn Camp as well.
The Wildcats trailed 30-21 at halftime, and were outscored, 28-23, in the second half.
“Our offensive execution was non-existent tonight and we really didn’t play hard defense until the fourth quarter,” Wagner said. “But it was already too late. One thing I can say is no matter the outcome of the games, these kids have not quit on the team and they have not laid down during the game.”
Zach Thorpe, and Caleb Woods led the Wildcats with 13 points apiece. Thorpe finished 4-for-4 from the free-throw line, and hit one 3-pointer. Woods finished with three 3-pointers. Tate Mills also scored in double figures with 11 points.
“We’ve got to start moving forward,” Wagner said. “I can see the progress we’ve made compared to when I first got here during the summer and it’s great. But we have become complacent and quit trying to get better. We go again tomorrow against a good Williamstown team, so we got about six hours left to feel bad about this one. But once that clock hits midnight, we need to turn the page.”
