CORBIN — Tony Pietrowski’s Corbin Redhounds had to overcome some obstacles during first round action of the Grace Health Cumberland Falls Invitational to get past Paris on Wednesday.
A slow start combined with some sicknesses kept the game close with the Greyhounds before Corbin took charge and picked up an easy, 71-39 win.
The Redhounds led 14-7 at the end of the first quarter, and 27-22 at halftime before outscoring Paris, 44-17, in the second half.
“Looked a little rusty out of the gate and dealing with some sickness but hopefully a couple more practices leading into Friday’s game will help,” Pietrowski said. “We did continue to show balance in scoring which is encouraging.”
Eli Pietrowski led the Redhounds with 14 points while Trey Worley added 12 points, Zander Curry finished with 11 points, Carter Stewart chipped in nine points, and Conner Blackburn had eight points.
“Effort level was good in the second half,” Pietrowski said. “Just need to clean up some missed assignments on defense and areas on offense. Overall, I am excited to get the win and look forward to an opportunity to repeat as champions. Webb out of Knoxville will be a very tough opponent. We look forward to the chance to compete against them.”
