Lady Colonels’ win streak hits six games as Clemons, Hopkins, and Rice combine to score 42 points 

MIDDLESBORO — Whitley County’s win streak is now at six games after a 51-35 victory over Middlesboro on Thursday.

The trio on Aubree Clemons, Maddy Hopkins, and Jonna Rice combined to score 42 points in the win as Whitley County improves to 9-2.

“Good to get the win. Middlesboro really frustrated us at times and played with really good effort for four quarters,” Whitley County coach Sean Pigman said. “We need to get better on both ends of the floor and have the same intensity for four quarters.  We have another chance tomorrow to get better and looking forward to the opportunity.”

Clemons led Whitley County with 15 points while Hopkins followed with 14 points, and Rice added 13 points.

The Lady Colonels led 30-17 at halftime, and 40-27 entering the fourth quarter. Hopkins scored five points while Rice added four points in the fourth quarter allowing Whitley County to secure the 16-point win. Keevie Betts led Middlesboro (3-10) with 10 points. The Lady Yellow Jackets have dropped five consecutive games.
