Jaguars win consecutive games for the first time this season, defeat Taylor County, 68-63

LEXINGTON — North Laurel withstood a late comeback attempt by Taylor County to knock of the Cardinals, 68-63.

The Jaguars took control of the game in the first quarter, jumping out to a 16-8 lead behind six-point efforts from Kole Jervis and Brody Brock. Both players hit two 3-pointers apiece while Cooper Elza knocked down a 3-pointer.

“Today was a very good win for us,” North Laurel coach Nate Valentine said. “For the second day in a row, we had to battle and find a way to win. They made a run at us late and we never flinched. Really proud of our guys today.”

North Laurel’s lead grew to 28-18 at halftime as Jordan Rawlings and Jervis each hit a 3-pointer apiece. The Jaguars (4-8) to a 47-35 advantage into the fourth quarter as Brock scored eight points while hitting a 3-pointer. Reece Davidson and scored five points while RJ Noble scored four points. North Laurel held off Taylor County in the final eight minutes despite being outscored, 28-21.

Brock led North Laurel with 22 points while Davidson followed with 17 points. Jervis added nine points while Rawlings chipped in eight points.
