WILLIAMSBURG — Eric Swords’ Whitley County Colonels capped off the first-ever Borderline Classic by defeating Garrard County, 52-32, on Friday.
Swords received another balanced scoring attack along with a solid defensive effort.
Whitley County (12-1) finished Christmas break with an impressive 6-0 record.
“Proud of our guys defensive performance,” Swords said. “We struggled mightily offensively. But we did enough to help us win. When you can struggle as bad as we did offensively and still get a win that says a lot about our kids effort. We just have to keep working to get better and prepare for the 2A tourney that we are hosting on Tuesday and Friday.”
Evan Ellis led Whitley County with 13 points while Bryce Anderson followed with 12 points, and Danny Ellis scored 10 points.
