STILL PERFECT: Bell County improves to 14-0 thanks to Burnett’s last second basket

WILLIAMSBURG — Blake Burnett’s last second shot allowed Bell County to remain unbeaten at 14-0 while defeating Knox Central, 58-56 in overtime, during the process in the Class 2A, Section 7 Tournament on Tuesday.

The Bobcats trailed 53-48 with 3:50 remaining in the fourth quarter before closing the game with a 10-3 run.

Burnett led Bell County with 18 points while Cameron Hall added 17 points and Jaxon Thomas scored nine points.

Gavin Chadwell led the Panthers (10-4) with 25 points and 18 rebounds. Austin Bargo scored 10 points, and Grayson Burton finished with nine points. 

“We put up a great fight against a really good bell do team,” Knox Central coach Mitchell Madden said. “We came out in the third quarter and took a five point lead and made a couple of bad decisions that let it end up in overtime.

“It was such a fun game to coach and watch,” he added. “Both teams were making big shots and plays. We will learn from this game and move on I’m very proud of my kids.”
