LONDON — Just one day after naming former Pulaski County football coach John Hines as its football program’s head coach, South Laurel High School made another announcement today, hiring Samuel Collier as the new boys’ track coach.
“I am very honored to be given this opportunity,” Collier said. “I look forward to working with a great group of athletes and helping them reach their goals. I want to thank Dr. Kidd and Coach Irwin for this opportunity and I look forward to a great season for SLHS track and field.”
Collier, a 2018 North Laurel graduate, ran cross country and track at the University of the Cumberlands from 2019 to 2021.
He was named assistant cross county and boys soccer coach at South Laurel High in 2021, and still hold both of those jobs as well. Collier also teaches ninth grade science at South Laurel High School.
“Coach Collier has served as an assistant coach for both our cross country and track teams for the past two seasons and has been very dedicated to developing our student-athletes and team performance,” South Laurel athletic director Jep Irwin said. “We are excited to have him take over our Boys’ Track team this season.”
