Corbin’s boys’ soccer team captured the Kentucky 2A, Section 2 championship after steamrolling Whitley County (3-2) on Thursday with an 8-0 win.
Gabe Cima led the way with four goals while Sheel Patel scored two goals in the win.
Logan Wise started the scoring for the Redhounds (2-3) with a goal during the 11th minute. Gabe Cima added a goal six minutes later to make the score, 2-0, while Patel’s goal during the 38th minute gave Corbin a 3-0 advantage at halftime.
The Redhounds continued to dominate in the second half, as Cima’s second goal during the 49th minute gave his team a 4-0 edge. Patel added his second goal of the game at the 57th minute while Cima’s third goal a minute later extended Corbin’s advantage to 6-0. Braydon Vann added a goal with five minutes remaining while Cima’s fourth goal wrapped up the scoring.
The Redhounds will be back in action Saturday against Greenwood while the Colonels will travel to play Garrard County.
