Lady Bobcats capture fifth straight Class 2A, Section 7 championship

STEARNS — David Teague’s Bell County Lady Bobcats are Class 2A, Section 7 champions after upending Perry Central, 76-69, on Friday.

In a game that saw senior Graci Jo Wilder score a game-high 29 points while notching her 2,000th career point during the process, the Lady Bobcats fought back from a 15-point deficit, and did just enough to grab the win.

Kairi Lamb added 21 points while Lauren McGeorge finished with 15 points.

“It was a very hard fought game and it was a game of runs,” Teague said. “I was pleased with the way our kids defended in the first half. We came out after halftime and hit a dry spell and give Perry Central credit they made shots.

“We got down about 15 late in the third quarter and so proud of the way our kids just kept battling. We made plays on both ends of the floor and ended the game on a good run.

“Again proud of our players and the energy and fight they had,” he added. “This is five in a row of the 2A sectional and glad to represent Bell County and our school in Owensboro.”
