CORBIN — Corbin’s struggles carries over into Saturday’s matchup with Ashland.
The Lady Redhounds’ losing skid hit four games after dropping a 57-56 heart breaker to the Kittens.
Corbin (9-6) is now 1-5 dating back to its Dec. 22, 2023 loss to Owensboro Catholic.
“I thought our kids played really hard and battled today,” Corbin assistant coach Konnie Snyder said. “We had some key possessions in the third quarter that we didn’t get scores and they were able to convert. It came down to a final possession and we couldn’t secure a loose ball and that led to a made free throw.”
The Lady Redhounds held a 25-21 lead at halftime, but were outscored, 26-14, in the third quarter, allowing Ashland to take a 47-39 advantage into the fourth quarter.
Corbin rallied in the final eight minutes, outscoring the Kittens, 17-10, but couldn’t come away with the win.
Kallie Housley scored 12 of her team-best 20 points in the final eight minutes. Raegan Walker finished with 15 points while Darcie Sanderson added nine points.
