MANCHESTER — Williamsburg punched its ticket into Tuesday’s 13th Region All “A” Classic championship game with a 70-50 win over Oneida Baptist.
The Yellow Jackets will face-off against Harlan in the title after the Green Dragons handed Pineville a 62-58 loss earlier Tuesday.
“Extremely proud of our guys tonight,” Williamsburg coach Anthony Hibbard said. “We came out with intention from the start and played our most complete game to date. I credit the first half of the season for our current play. We still have ways to go, but it is encouraging to see our guys carving out their roles and becoming more confident individually and collectively.
“We have a lot of respect for Oneida Baptist and Coach Larry Gritton,” he added. “I think he is doing a phenomenal job with his guys. I thought his group played with great effort tonight.”
Four players scored for the Yellow Jackets while each of them reached double-digits.
Andrew Smith led the way with 24 points while Henry Bowling added 20 points. Cooper Prewitt finished with 15 points while Conner Saylor
Chipped in 11 points.
Canaan Tyree led the Mountaineers with 22 points while Jacob Rogers finished with 19 points.
“Again, we like to think our guys are finding their footing,” Hi Brad said. “Andrew played incredible tonight and played a big factor on the glass. It was good to see Henry Bowling find his range early. His play gives us a lot of confidence. We are really proud of Conner Saylor. His improved play is vital for us. We just really like what everyone contributed tonight, including Cooper Prewitt, Lakin Cunagin, Dalton Henderson, and Zach Bowen. We have to prepare for another tough one tomorrow.”
