Four players score in double figures during Lady Colonels’ 68-41 win over Williamsburg

WILLIAMSBURG — With four players scoring in double figures, the Whitley County Lady Colonels were able to snap their two game losing skid on Tuesday.
Whitley captured win No. 11 while picking up its first 50th District victory of the season with a 68-41 decision over Williamsburg.
Aubree Clemens led the way with 21 points while Maddy Hopkins added 16 points. Jonna Rice scored 13 points while Autumn Sawyers hit three 3-pointers and chipped in 11 points.
Hannah Creekmore led the Lady Yellow Jackets with 18 points while Allie Wilson and Willie Breeding scored 11 points apiece.
“Nice to get first district win,” Whitley County coach Sean Pigman said. “Kids really battled for four quarters. We had four kids in double figures, which is a nice balance. Thought we rebounded the ball well and got on the floor for loose balls. Just good effort all around.
“Glad to see Autumn knock down some 3s,” he added. “She gets the tough defensive call every night. I really liked how we moved the ball on offense at times which led to great scoring opportunities. Jonna, Maddy and Aubree all three had nice nights scoring the ball and rebounding.
It’s nice to go 1-0 in district. Proud of my kids and staff. Now we will go get back to work tomorrow.”
