LOUISVILLE — Another game, another win for the 13th Region’s top ranked team North Laurel Lady Jaguars.
Led by Junior Brooke Nichelson’s 31-point, 10-rebound effort in only 21 minutes, the Lady Jaguars cruised past DuPont Manual, 71-43.
The win improved North Laurel to 11-3 while pushing its win streak to five games.
“We seemed a little sluggish overall today,” North Laurel coach Eddie Mahan said. “The girls did a good job in the first quarter with our game plan and was able to contain them to only six points but after we got our lead we seemed to not keep our focus and it cost us in the second and third quarters. Brooke had 35 and 10 in 21 minutes after she suffered a minor injury in the third quarter.
“Chloe McKnight had a good overall game with 12 points and 10 rebounds,” he added. “Mariella Claybrook had some foul trouble and Jaelyn Black was injured in the second quarter so we had to have some other players step up. Emma Carl was one of those players. She is one of the best young players around and she showed it today against a very athletic Manual team. Her 12 points and six steals in just 16 minutes was a big boost for our team. The fourth quarter we finally were able to put it all back together and make a good run.”
Emma Carl, and Chloe McKnight scored 12 points apiece while Haley Combs added nine points, and Gracie McKnight finished with three points.
