Williamsburg was on the ropes but never went to the canvas during its heavyweight matchup with Middlesboro on Friday.
Jerry Herron’s squad scored with a little over two minutes remaining to claim a 22-21 win.
Middlesboro (0-2) built a 21-14 advantage before Sydney Bowen connected with a 15-yard touchdown pass to Nate Goodin to make the score, 21-20. Bowen added the two-point conversion to give his team a slim one-point lead.
Middlesboro moved the ball downfield but Williamsburg turned in a goal line stand and recovered a fumble to secure the win.
Bowen finished with two rushing touchdowns, a passing touchdown, and two, two-point conversions.
Herron’s squad will be back in action at home Friday against Leslie County while Middlesboro will host Garrard County.
