DIXON LAW OFFICE PRESENTS GAME OF THE WEEK: Corbin looking to extend 20-game win streak over Whitley County
Corbin is looking to continue its dominance against Whitley County Friday when the two teams meet in a 50th District showdown.
The Redhounds (10-4, 2-0) are looking to run their win streak to 21 games against the Colonels while Whitley County (13-3, 0-1) is looking to get back on track in district play after falling to Williamsburg on Jan. 12, 61-60.
Both teams have turned in impressive season so far with Corbin recording wins over such teams as South Laurel, Harlan, Danville Christian, and Madison Southern while the Colonels have defeated teams such as Knox Central, Pineville, and Nicholas County.
Whitley County started the season with a 13-1 mark but have lost two straight since.
Corbin is led by Eli Pietrowski’s 13.5 scoring average. The Redhounds have a balanced scoring attack as Zander Curry follows with a 12.1 scoring average and Trey Worley is averaging 10.4 points per game. Carter Stewart averages 9.2 points per game while Connor Middleton (9.1), Ryder Akins (8.2), and Conner Blackburn (5.6) follow.
Pietrowski also leads Corbin with a 7.4 rebounding average while Curry (7.1), Worley (5.9), and Adkins (3.2) follows.
Evan Ellis is Whitley County’s leading scorer with a 16.4 scoring average while Dre Ellis follows, averaging 12.2 points per game. Lucas Queener is tossing in 9.5 points per game while Bruce Anderson (8.9), Bryson Mahan (8.2), and Jackson Petrey (7.1) follows.
Queener’s 7.2 rebounding average leads the Colonels while Petrey is averaging 5.8 boards per game. Evan Ellis (4.6), Anderson (4.4), and Danny Ellis (3.8) follow.
