MANCHESTER — After turning in a subpar effort during their win over Jackson County earlier in the week, Eddie Mahan’s North Laurel Lady Jaguars got back to business Thursday and handed Clay County a 61-16 49th District loss while improving to 13-3 overall and 3-0 against District opponents.
North Laurel has now won 14 in a row over the struggling Lady Tigers (6-14) while extending its win streak against 49th District opponents to 47 games.
“It’s always good to get another district win,” Mahan said. “Tonight was a good opportunity to work on a few things we needed to work on and get everyone on the roster some playing time. I thought our defense improved and we were able to work on our depth. We didn’t shoot great tonight, and I hope that is improved tomorrow, as we have a tough opponent in Rockcastle on the road.”
Brooke Nichelson and Chloe McKnight were two of 10 Lady Jaguar players that scored. They led the way with 15 points apiece while Gracie McKnight finished with eight points, and Mariella Claybrook added six points.
