CORBIN — Lynn Camp’s losing skid is now at eight games after dropping a 52-19 decision to Pineville on Friday.
The Lady Wildcats (2-15 overall, 0-2 vs. 51st District opponents) turned the ball over 37 times in the loss as Nadine Johnson led the Lady Mountain Lions (14-2, 2-0) with 30 points.
“We started out in the first half playing well with intensity,” Lynn Camp coach Joshua Mobley said. “We rotated well on defense and located shooters well. We also boxed out and rebounded well throughout the game as well. Their press affected us a lot in the game especially in the second, third, and fourth quarter. We turned the ball over a lot which caused a lot of easy shots.
“Our defense is still showing a lot of improvements each game out,” he added. “Both in man and zone the communication and hands up in the passing lanes has improved tremendously. The turnovers on our end was the biggest part of the story in this one. Time to get back in the gym over the weekend and prep for our next district opponent this upcoming Monday at Barbourville.”
Johnson was joined in double figures by Ava Arnett, who finished with 15 points.
Pineville led 16-6 after the first quarter behind eight points by Arnett, and six points by Johnson.
Johnson added 14 points in the second quarter, increasing the Lady Mountain Lions’ lead to 37-9 at halftime.
Pineville outscored Lynn Camp, 14-5, in the third quarter, building a 51-14 advantage with eight minutes left in the contest.
Lauren Partin led the Lady Wildcats with 11 points while Madison Weymers finished with three points.
