BARBOURVILLE — Barbourville and Lynn Camp hooked up in a classic 51st District battle with the Lady Tigers doing just enough to pull out a slim 41-35 win.
The win improved Barbourville to 11-9 overall while evening its district record at 2-2. The loss, the Lady Wildcats’ ninth in a row, drops Lynn Camp to 2-16, and 0-3 against district opponents.
Both teams struggled shooting from the floor in the first half, combining to hit only eight field goals.
The Lady Tigers led 5-2 after the first quarter, and 15-7 at halftime. The Lady Wildcats used a 12-7 run in the third quarter to cut their deficit to 22-19 entering the fourth quarter before Barbourville hit 12-of-14 free throw attempt during the final eight minutes to seal the win.
Marleigh Martin came up huge for Barbourville in the fourth quarter scoring eight points while Sarah Smith added five points and Layla Brock chipped in four points.
Martin led the Lady Tigers with 14 points while Smith chipped in 13 points, and Brock added six points.
Lauren Partin led Lynn Camp with 15 points while Madison Weymers added eight points and Sayde Mobley finished with six points.
