MOUNT VERNON — Sean Pigman’s Whitley County Lady Colonels dropped their third game in a row after suffering a 65-32 setback to Rockcastle County on Monday.
The loss, the Lady Colonels’ third in a row, dropped their record to 12-8.
“Long night,” Pigman said. “Credit to coach (Chrysti) Noble and her kids. They competed from the tip. We just didn’t play our game tonight but credit to Rockcastle County, they caused of a lot that. Aubree (Clemens) really competed tonight and was great on the boards. We will get back to work tomorrow.”
The Lady Colonels didn’t have an answer for Rockcastle County’s Macy Spivey, who led all scorers with 25 points.
Whitley County fell behind 13-8 in the first quarter and never recovered. The Lady Colonels trailed 34-8 at halftime after being outscored 21-0 in the second quarter.
The Lady Rockets outscored Whitley County, 31-24, in the second half.
Jonna Rice led the Lady Colonels with 12 points while Maddy Hopkins added 10 points. Clemens finished with eight points.
