Lady Jaguars get back on track with 56-31 win over Harlan

LONDON — The 13th Region’s top ranked team managed to get past what many considered a trap game on Tuesday with No. 2 Corbin on the slate this Friday.

The Lady Jaguars cruised past Harlan with a 56-31 win while winning their ninth game during their past 10.

Junior Brooke Nichelson scored 16 points and pulled down 16 rebounds in only 15 minutes of play while Chloe McKnight logged 15 minutes and scored 12 points while rebounding nine boards.

“Harlan has been playing well so we knew we were going to have to play well,” North Laurel coach Eddie Lagan said. “The first couple of minutes we were playing soft on the offensive end and not finishing contested shots at all. After an early timeout we came out with a much better mindset and you could see it on the scoreboard.”

North Laurel wasted little time in taking control of the contest, leading 18-2 after the first quarter, 39-7 at halftime, and 54-16 entering the fourth quarter.

“The entire team had a very good first three quarters,” Mahan said. “The fourth quarter was some good varsity experience for my young players to go against some very physical varsity starters.”

Harlan’s Aymanni Wynn led all scorers with 17 points while Kylie Noe added 10 points.

“Wynn and Noe are two of the best players in our region,” Mahan said. “I was extremely proud of our defensive effort on them in the first three quarters.”
