CORBIN — Knox Central secured the 51st District’s top seed with a 72-16 victory over Lynn Camp.
The Lady Panthers (15-8 overall, 3-0 vs. 51st District opponents) were led by Halle Collins, who scored 17 points while Kayla Gambrel-Garrison chipped in 10 points. Timberly Fredrick, MacKenzie Hensley, and Shelbi Smith scored nine points apiece. Fredrick also recorded her 1,000th career point.
The loss dropped the Lady Wildcats to 3-17 overall, and 0-3 versus district opponents.
Madison Weymers and Cambree Prewitt led Lynn Camp with four points apiece.
“Tonight we didn’t rebound the ball well and that made us pay the price on second chance points some,” Lynn Camp coach Josh Mobley said. “They moved the ball well and hit plenty of perimeter shots tonight. We also didn’t take care of the ball the best at times throughout the game tonight which hurt us.
“Other than that, at times we still showed improvement on defense with our rotations and our hustle,” he added. “We had some possessions that we ended our well on with rebounds and turnovers on them as well. Offensively, we still attempted to move the ball, but at times we settled for shots too quick and allowed them to speed us up too much. We got a quick turnaround and are headed to Thomas Walker tomorrow for some early afternoon games, so time to rest up and get back out there tomorrow.”
