Jaguars continue to gain steam, hand Pulaski County, 50-45, loss

LONDON — Nate Valentine’s North Laurel Jaguars continue to pick up steam at the right time.

The Jaguars captured their season-best fourth win in a row by defeating Pulaski County at home on Friday, 50-45.

North Laurel (10-11) is now only one game under .500 after starting the season with a 2-8 mark. 

Nate Valentine’s squad turned in one of its best defensive efforts of the season, limiting the Maroons to only 17 points in the first half and its second lowest points total of the season.

“I’m really proud of our guys for finding a way to get the win tonight,” Valentine said. “This group is one of the most resilient teams I’ve had. No matter what happens, they just keeping fighting. Really proud of them tonight.”

Senior Brody Brock made his return from an injury, and led the team with 18 points and four 3-pointers. Joe Smith added 10 points while Jordan Rawlings hit three 3-pointers and finished with nine points. Cooper Elza added eight points in the win.

North Laurel led 17-9 at the end of the first quarter, and 32-17 at halftime. The Jaguars entered the fourth quarter holding a 40-32 advantage.
