Jaguars dig early hole, fall to Ashland, 73-39

LEXINGTON — North Laurel took one on the chin on Saturday after dropping a 73-39 decision to Ashland Blazer on Saturday.

The Jaguars (10-12) were coming off a win over Pulaski County just a day before but never got on track against the Tomcats.

North Laurel was without starter Reece Davidson for the third consecutive game.

Ashland built a 19-4 lead in the first quarter, and North Laurel never recovered.

“We ran into a buzz saw today,” Ashland was outstanding on both ends of the floor.”

The Jaguars trailed 38-20 at halftime, and 59-26 entering the fourth quarter.

The Tomcats were lights out from long range, hitting 24-of-45 shot attempts, including a red-hot 18-of-28 from 3-point range.

They outrebounded North Laurel, 29-21, and forced the Jaguars into 10 turnovers.

North Laurel shot 15-of-40 from the floor, including 6-of-18 from behind the arc.

Kole Jervis led the Jaguars with 11 points while Jordan Rawlings scored nine points, and RJ Noble finished with five points.
