PINEVILLE — Corbin found out first hand why Great Crossing is the state’s No. 1 ranked team.
The Redhounds suffered their worst loss of the season, dropping a 75-25 decision to the Warhawks.
The 25-point scoring output also turned out to be Corbin’s lowest point total of the season.
“Disappointing performance today,” Corbin coach Tony Pietrowski said. “They are an extremely good team but we didn’t really play with level of effort or execution we expect from our program.”
Pietrowskis wasted no time putting the loss behind his team, and focusing what is a huge week for the Redhounds.
Corbin (12-7) sits atop the 50th District standings currently with a 3-1 mark, but South Laurel, and Whitley County are both 2-2 while Williamsburg is 1-3.
The Redhounds are slated to play the Cardinals at home Tuesday before traveling to face-off against Whitley County on Friday. Corbin also has a game against Barbourville on Thursday.
The Redhounds have an earlier win against South Laurel, but lost at home last week to Whitley County.
“Next week could very well determine our future,”
Pietrowski said. “I’m interested to see how we respond the next couple of days in practice.”
Lucas Brittain led Corbin with seven points while Zander Curry finished with six points.
