Slow start, turnovers play big role in Lynn Camp’s 56-31 loss to Thomas Walker

EWING, VA. — Lynn Camp entered Saturday’s contest with Thomas Walker, Va. riding with hopes of getting back on track after losing to Knox Central on Friday.

But once again, a slow start combined with a poor shooting effort led to the Lady Wildcats’ demise.

Lynn Camp connected on only nine field goals in the 56-31 loss while seeing its record fall to 3-18.

“Today, the first half out of the gate killed us,” Lynn Camp coach Josh Mobley said. “We turned the ball over early and often which allowed them to get out to an early lead. We didn’t box out and rebound the ball well today either and we let their size inside mess with us both offensively and defensively.

“We played with better energy, intensity, and effort in the second half than we did in the first,” he added. “However, the deficit was too much to overcome. We have a day to rest and then we are back at it on Monday evening  for a game in Tennessee.”

Lauren Partin led Lynn Camp with 13 points while Julie Moore finished with six points. Lily Henize, and Sayde Mobley scored five points apiece.
