Moser, Thompson combine to score 57 points to lead Pineville past Middlesboro, 60-59

PINEVILLE — The two-man wrecking crew of Ashton Moser and Sawyer Thompson combined to score 57 points to help guide Pineville to a hardfought 60-59 win over Middlesboro.

The Mountain Lions (15-6) have now won five straight against the Yellow Jackets (7-13).

“I know the scoring doesn’t look like it but this was a total team win,” Pineville coach Brady Levy said. “Everyone that got on the floor tonight battled on the boards, on the defensive end and made contributions to help us win.

“Rivalry games are always tough to balance the emotions but I’m so proud of our team and our ability to stay composed and be able to execute in crunch time,” he added. “This was our third straight win by one possession. Ashton and Sawyer played like two of the better players in our region tonight. We hope to build off this stretch of tight games we’ve found ways to win and prepare for the stretch run of this season.”

Moser led the way with 30 points while Thompson added 27.
