MCKEE — North Laurel can lock up the 49th District’s top seed on Friday if they can get past Jackson County on the road.
The Lady Jaguars enters the game with a 47-game win streak against 49th District opponents, and a 34-game win streak against Jackson County. The last time North Laurel lost to the Lady Generals was Dec. 14, 2007. The Lady Jaguars are 37-1 against Jackson County since 1998.
The two teams met on Jan. 22 with North Laurel coming away with a slim 54-49 win. Chloe McKnight finished with a team-best 18 points in the win while Brooke Nichelson recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
The Lady Jaguars struggled from the floor, hitting only 20-of-57 shot attempts, including a 2-of-11 effort from 3-point range. North Laurel wrapped up the win from the charity stripe and rebounding, going 16-of-18 from the free-throw line while outrebounding Jackson County, 28-16.
Abby Gilbert led the Lady Generals with 29 points while Kylee Shannon recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Jackson County shot 26-of-64 from the floor.
