Jaguars place three in double figures during 66-48 49th District win over Jackson County

LONDON — North Laurel wrapped up 49th District play by rolling to an easy 66-48 win over Jackson County.

The win snapped a two-game losing skid for Nate Valentine’s squad as three players scored in double figures.

North Laurel is now 11-13 overall, and 5-1 against 49th District opponents. The Generals fall to 11-13 and 3-3 versus district opponents.

The two teams will play again Friday with the contest being held at Jackson County. 

“It was good to get the win tonight,” Valentine said. “We will play Jackson County at least two more times, including one game tomorrow. We continue to have other guys step up and find ways to win. I’m really proud of our team and their resilience all season.”

Jordan Rawlings led North Laurel with 16 points while hitting three 3-pointers. Brody Brock followed with 15 points while Krish Patel added 13 points and also added a 3-pointer. Kole Jervis finished with eight points while Cooper Elza and Joe Smith scored six points apiece, and RJ Noble added two points. 

Tydus Summers led the Generals with 16 points while Carter Cunagin scored 11 points, and Landon Dezarn added nine points.

The game was close in the first quarter with Jackson County holding a slim 13-11 lead, but the Jaguars took a 37-24 lead into the locker room at halftime.

North Laurel wrapped up the win by outscoring the Generals, 29-24, in the second half.
