Lady Bobcats snap Whitley County’s two-game win streak

WILLIAMSBURG — A quick start by Bell County combined with Whitley County struggling to find the basket in the first half led to the Lady Bobcats’ 60-48 win over the Lady Colonels on Friday.

Bell County (15-9) jumped out to a 16-9 edge in the first quarter and a 31-16 advantage at halftime before holding on to pickup the 12-point victory.

“Give Bell county credit, they played their game and we struggled to get going,” Whitley County coach Sean Pigman said. “Proud of our girls for not quitting and competing to the end. We need to get back to work and just keep improving.”

The loss snapped the Lady Colonels’ two-game win streak while Whitley County falls to 14-10 on the season.

Maddy Hopkins led the Lady Colonels with 24 points while Jonna Rice added nine points. Kairi Lamb scored 22 points for Bell County while Gracie Jo Wilder added 19 points. Lauren McGeorge chipped in eight points.
