Cardinals’ scoring struggles continue against Lincoln County, fall to the Patriots, 46-37

STANFORD — South Laurel has now been without the services of leading scorer and rebounder, Jordan Mabe, for 10 games, and his absence has played a big part in the Cardinals’ struggles.

South Laurel recorded its third lowest scoring output of the season, falling to Lincoln County on Monday, 45-36.

The Cardinals are now 3-7 since Mabe’s injury, and 13-9 overall.

South Laurel fell behind 10-5 in the first quarter, and 18-10 at halftime before getting outscored 27-26 in the second half.

“Just got out-coached, played in every facet of the game,” South Laurel coach Jeff Davis said. “I have to do better getting this bunch better and I’ve not done that. They are playing hard and giving everything they have, and it’s on me to get them in better positions and places. Bottom line, I’ve done a terrible job and I know that.”

Landon Howard led the Cardinals with 11 points while Josh Steele added nine points. Hunter Bundy finished with six points while Colton Rawlings chipped in five points.
