L4 Security 13th Region Media Network Volleyball (Week 2) Top 10: Whitley County takes over No. 1 spot

1. Whitley County (5-0 overall)

What else could you ask for?

The Lady Colonels had one heck of a week, defeating Corbin, North Laurel, and South Laurel while also capturing the Kentucky 2A, Section 7 championship. 

They’ll be tested again this week with games against Knox Central and Corbin.

2. North Laurel (6-3)

The Lady Jaguars look to be the most-improved team in the region. They’ve got a win over Corbin, and lost a five-set heartbreaker against Whitley County.

3. Corbin (3-2)

The Lady Redhounds fell to Whitley County in the finals of the Kentucky 2A, Section 7 Tournament but did pick up an impressive 2-0 win over a much-improved Bell County squad. The Lady Redhounds are dangerous. They’ll improve as the season progresses.

4. South Laurel (1-2)

The Lady Cardinals were very close to beating Whitley County after jumping out to a two-set lead but just couldn’t seal the deal. They’ll continue to get better as the season progresses.

5. Bell County (6-1)

The Lady Bobcats are another team to keep an eye on. Gracie Jo Wilder makes them dangerous.

6. Knox Central (3-1)

Barb Gregory’s squad is once again solid, and will be a tough out once postseason play begins. The Lady Panthers have a big match this week against Knox Central.

7. Pineville (3-5)

Coach Samantha North has done a fantastic job with the Lady Mountain Lions. They’ve improved after each game, and could be a surprise this season. They have a tough match this week against Knox Central.

8. Harlan County (2-1)

The Lady Black Bears have quietly jumped out to a 2-1 mark. Harlan County looks to be a tough team to beat in the 52nd District.

9. Williamsburg (1-3)

The Lady Yellow Jackets have gotten off to a slow start but has shown they are a solid team.

10. Jackson County (1-5)

We are waiting to see if the Lady Generals begin to catch fire. They have the talent to do so.
