SOMERSET — Eddie Mahan’s North Laurel Lady Jaguars reached the 20-win plateau for the ninth consecutive season after recording an impressive 75-46 win over Southwestern on Tuesday.
The win improved the Lady Jaguars to 20-5 while they improved to 14-2 during their past 16 games.
“Southwestern is a talented team and it’s always tough to play them anywhere but to play this well on the road was special,” Mahan said. “Southwestern has a very good chance of winning the 12th Region and their defense is a big reason why. For us to score 75 against them shows how well our offense played tonight.”
Chloe McKnight led North Laurel with 21 points in the win while Brooke Nichelson added 20 points. Haley Combs finished with 13 points.
“Haley Combs had a great first quarter and helped set the tone for us,” Mahan said. “Brooke Nichelson and Chloe McKnight did a great job of being aggressive and combined for 41 points, but we had so many step up that on nights like this we are very hard to guard.”
North Laurel led 13-12 at the end of the first quarter before outscoring the Lady Warriors, 44-24, during the next two quarters to pull away.
