LONDON — North Laurel coach Nate Valentine gave no excuses on his team’s 77-63 loss to Madison Southern on Tuesday.
Valentine was straight to the point, saying his Jaguars ran into a very good Eagles squad.
“We just got beat tonight,” he admitted. “Madison Southern is a very talented, well-coached team that is finally getting healthy. I felt like we hit a wall tonight after having three hard-fought games in a row. We just have to stay the course and keep working to give ourselves the best chance to be successful in the tournament.”
Madison Southern is coached by Steve Wright, who guided South Laurel to a state title in 2005, and was Valentine’s former high school coach as well.
The Eagles built a 25-14 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. They led 43-31 at halftime, and 67-52 entering the fourth quarter.
Brody Brock hit three 3-pointers for North Laurel while leading the Jaguars with 15 points. Kole Jervis scored 14 points while Joe Smith added 11 points.
