Lady Colonels cruise past Lynn Camp with 44-14 win

WILLIAMSBURG — Whitley County’s took advantage of Lynn Camp’s offensive struggles and cruised to an easy 44-14 win on Thursday.

The Lady Colonels limited the Lady Wildcats to only three points in the first half, and led 26-3 at halftime. Lynn Camp entered the fourth quarter trailing, 34-5.

“Nice to get a win at home,” Whitley County coach Sean Pigman said. “Kids played hard and we did some good things especially on the offensive end. We shot the ball well were solid on defense. We have a short turnaround. We go to Hazard tomorrow night, so gotta get ready to play.”

Maddy Hopkins led Whitley County (15-11) with 10 points while Autumn Sawyers added eight points along with Jonna Rice.

Madison Weymers led Lynn Camp (3-22) with four points.

“Tonight we didn’t rebound the ball well at times which gave them a lot of second chance opportunities,” Lynn Camp coach Josh Mobley said. “They moved the ball well in the first half which lead to them shooting it well from the perimeter early in the game. Offensively, we took care of the ball decently throughout the game. Our biggest issue tonight was their length which created a lot of problems for us getting off shots.

“We also have to continue to work on ball movement on offense which is the only time that we got to shots,” he added. “We have to continue to get in the gym and work on shooting, finishing, and ball movement in order to improve our results offensively. Defensively, we have to continue to play with our hands up and communicate at all times. We have to immediately get ready and head out again tomorrow night to Burgin for another set of games.”
