Lady Yellow Jackets turn in total team effort during 66-61 victory over Mount Pisgah

WILLIAMSBURG — Melissa Douglas’ Williamsburg Lady Yellow Jackets picked up their first win in three weeks while snapping their nine-game losing skid with a 66-61 win over Mount Pisgah on Friday.

The Lady Yellow Jackets (5-18) received a solid team effort during the win, putting three players in doubles figures in scoring.

Hannah Creekmore led Williamsburg with 19 points while hitting two 3-pointers. Lorelei Coleman finished with 17 points while Allie Wilson finished with 11 points. Lylah Mattingly added nine points, Abby Moses finished with eight points while Ellie Breeding scored two points.

“So excited for these ladies,” Douglas said. “They polished up their game and came out ready to play. The coaches and I are so pleased with their effort and energy. We have emphasized improving stats all year, not to encourage being a leading scorer but playing their role. Mount Pisgah was a well-coached team and had some great players.”

Williamsburg led throughout the contest, taking a 14-10 lead into the second quarter while holding a 29-20 edge at halftime.

The Lady Yellow Jackets put the game out of reach by outscoring Mount Pisgah, 24-16, in the fourth quarter.
